Die Stiftung bezweckt die Unterstützung von Bildungs-, Sozial-, Entwicklungs-, Kultur-, Natur- und Umweltprojekten. Die Unterstützung kann in Form von Beiträgen und Darlehen an Organisationen, Institutionen und Einzelpersonen erfolgen. Die Stiftung ist sowohl im Inland, wie auch im Ausland tätig. Die IRENE-Stiftung verfolgt weder Erwerbs- noch Selbsthilfezwecke.
